Republic of Karelia and Siemens AG Announce Cooperation
OREANDA-NEWS. On January, 28 in Moscow Head of Karelia Alexander Khudilainen and Dr.Dietrich Möller, president of Siemens Russia and Central Asia and vice president of Siemens AG, have signed the Agreement on Cooperation.
The parties have agreed on partnership in the spheres of mutual interest. It concerns projects in the the field of power industry, transport, infrastructure, and public health service. For instance, the agreement provides an opportunity to apply Siemens' innovation energy-saving technologies in Karelia's housing and municipal services. Among the top-priority cooperation areas there are also use of Siemens' solutions in construction of new power generation facilities and building of Smart Grid in the region. The partners are also looking into option for delivery of modern medical equipment to health care facilities of the republic.
In the opinion of Head of Karelia Alexander Khudilainen, the Agreement signed today is one more step on the way of innovation-driven growth of the republic's economy. Siemens AG is one of the global leaders cooperation with which is a buoying factor in the sphere of housing and municipal services and power industry of the republic. Cooperation with Siemens is called to contribute to introduction of advanced technologies able to improve living standards of the population in Karelia.
Specific projects and the scope of the equipment supply will be specified by additional contracts. If necessary, the parties may establish a working group on some fields of cooperation.
- Northwestern Federal District is very important to our company. Siemens Russia has already got the successful track record and local manufacturing content in this region. Cooperation with the Republic of Karelia seems to have potential. The document we have signed today is a starting point for the teamwork on future projects. I'm sure that Siemens' technologies with both contribute to the modernization of Karelia's grid system and housing and municipal services, and will promote development of the economy of the region, - Dr.Dietrich Möller has pointed out.
