OREANDA-NEWS. January 28, 2015. Ukraine and Canada are intensifying negotiations regarding the signing of the FTA. This was underlined by Canadian Minister of International Trade Ed Fast and Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine Aivaras Abromavicius at a briefing following the bilateral meeting.

Aivaras Abromavicius has noted that the group of experts is actively working on the discussion of further development of relations between the two countries that had started in Davos.

"The working group will continue to intensively discuss this treaty in videoconference mode, there are still some sensitive points relating the document, but our strong desire from both sides to sign the agreement will give a positive result," the Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine said.

Canadian Minister of International Trade Ed Fast has emphasized that Canada will continue to support Ukraine and expressed hope that the agreement will contribute to strengthen the country's economy and continue the path towards a better future.

"The purpose of these negotiations is to support Ukraine. I announced today that Canada would provide Ukraine with additional US52 million for technical needs, the deployment and strengthening of her capacity and economic development. In addition, these investments are to encourage SMEs that produce dairy products, as well as to strengthen the companies engaged in the storage of grain," Ed Fast said.
