OREANDA-NEWS. January 27, 2015. OJSC MMC Norilsk Nickel and the Federal Service for Environmental, Technological, and Nuclear Supervision (Rostechnadzor) have signed a cooperation agreement with head of Rostechnadzor Alexey Aleshin and CEO of Norilsk Nickel Vladimir Potanin putting their signatures to the document.

The agreement seeks to promote cooperation in occupational safety and health, reduce accident and trauma rates in production and urban development. The parties likewise agreed to introduce remote monitoring capabilities enabling federal governmental oversight of occupational safety at high-hazard production facilities. Rostechnadzor and Norilsk Nickel are going to jointly foster exchange of information, conduct staff trainings and Q&A sessions to improve efficiency and competence. The parties set out to direct advisory talks and stimulate legal, expert and inter-party engagement.

Alexey Aleshin emphasized the significance of the agreement and its effect of cutting on inspections and lowering the bureaucratic pressure on businesses. Aleshin is confident that the agreement will lead to a brand-new level of engagement with Norilsk Nickel with increased transparency in the supervising authority to operator relationship while shifting Rostechnadzor to a more analytical, directed and productive oversight.
