Boardwalk converting Louisiana storage for NGLs

OREANDA-NEWS. A subsidiary of midstream operator Boardwalk Pipeline Partners has filed the necessary permits to convert a cavern at its Choctaw Gas Storage hub in Iberville Parish, Louisiana, to NGL storage.

Boardwalk Storage plans to abandon Cavern 24 on the site, and transfer existing gas storage at that facility into Cavern 25, according to a filing with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).

As of 1 April 2015, only three firm storage contracts comprising 4.1 Bcf of the 7.6 Bcf of working gas storage capacity at the Choctaw Gas Storage hub will be contracted.

No additional facilities are expected to be constructed or abandoned as a result of the service change.
