OREANDA-NEWS. AvtoVAZ has begun work on the creation of new C-Class off-road vehicle, which will appear after XRAY and XRAY Cross. The head of the project XRAY, Oleg Grunenkov, said in the interview with "AvtoSreda".

"Next in line after the XRAY and XRAY Cross – is crossover of C-Class, under which we now think and work. This is a new product, we discuss it conceptually, and we have some achievements. More I cannot say yet. I note that now AvtoVAZ does not stop, despite the times of crisis. Today we are forming graphics on the new crossover Lada C-class, "- said Oleg Grunenkov.

More specific release date of crossover Lada C-Class is still unknown. According to a previously planned development of AvtoVAZ, the launch of new products is planned for 2017. At the same time Lada sedan of C-class should go to the market. However, according to unofficial data, the sedan will appear earlier - in 2016.

Meanwhile, at the end of this year, AvtoVAZ plans to launch the mass production of the compact crossover XRAY, created on the basis of hatchback Renault Sandero. The concept of the "Lada" was presented in August 2014 at the Moscow Motor Show, model will be available for buyers only in front-wheel version. Last year, AvtoVAZ also announced another novelty - a crossover XRAY Cross, whose main difference is the presence of a 4x4 version. In addition, Lada XRAY Cross was created on the basis of a different car Renault - Duster. But not only that differ between a conventional XRAY and XRAY Cross - the last model will also have a plastic body kit and other engines.

"The fundamental difference between these cars is that XRAY Cross will be all-wheel drive version. Accordingly, the body had to be adapted precisely for 4x4 version. Four-wheel drive will be from Renault Duster. But our car is different from the "Duster", XRAY Cross has completely different dimensions, it is more compact, and it has better approach and departure angles, another clearance. According to the geometrical cross XRAY Cross will be interesting enough for our customers. All the technical details, of course, we will tell before sales. While I can only emphasize once again, the main difference from the XRAY XRAY Cross – is the existence of "cross" drive 4x4.
