OREANDA-NEWS.Today Fitch published 'The Fitch Fundamentals Index - Spain, Overview and Review of Specific Subcomponents', the companion methodology report to the inaugural 'Fitch Fundamentals Index - Spain' fourth quarter report also published today.

The FFI is an alternative economic indicator utilizing proprietary Fitch data that focuses on credit performance indicators and their drivers to provide additional depth and perspective to a wide range of constituents interested in the current and future trajectory of the economy. The FFI incorporates basic statistics to provide an objective basis for classifying movements in the underlying fundamental indicators.

More specifically, the year-over-year percentage change in each subcomponent for the current quarter is compared to historical data to provide the context for determining where, along Fitch's five-category scale, each subcomponent (and therefore the aggregate index) falls for that quarter. This methodology factors in directional changes in the underlying series, such as from rising delinquencies to falling delinquencies, and inflection points that reflect a change in the rate of growth or decline.
