OREANDA-NEWS. January 22, 2015. POSCO starts the New Year of the Ram by further asserting its resolution to build `POSCO the Great.`

On the first working day of the New Year, POSCO hosted the POSCO Family kick-off meeting for 2015 at the main conference hall of the Pohang headquarters, and shared the company`s strategic directions for the year.

Participating at the kick-off meeting were 300 executives and staff from POSCO, Group affiliates and outsourcing partners, while other executives and staff in Seoul and Gwangyang who were not able to attend the meeting watched a live broadcast on the TVs installed in the offices and on their PCs.

The kick-off meeting began by showing a New Year`s resolution video from executives and staff of POSCO Group. The image of the New Year`s resolutions of executives and staff from Group affiliates as well as overseas corporations such as Mexico and Turkey inspired bright hope and vigorous energy.

President Kwon Oh-joon said in his New Year`s address, ``I would like to thank the executives and staff at home and abroad who have greatly contributed to achieving our goals. 2015 will be a year in which we must work harder to improve our profitability and competitiveness for the group as a whole. The keyword I ask our executives and staff to keep in mind this year is to create financial outcomes.``

``Let`s take one step closer this year, the second year of our three-year mid-term, to achieving our mid-term goals by creating financial outcomes in earnest and strengthening the executive abilities of core management agendas.``

Kwon Oh-joon urged staff to strive to follow the five main promotion directions to achieve the mid-term plan, incorporating #a robust profit structure based on solutions, #the acceleration of business restructuring and the healthiness of the balance sheet, #the establishment and use of project-oriented working methods, #the establishment of the foundation on which to commercialize core new growth projects, and #the fortification of the group`s management efficiency and synergy.

Prior to the kick-off meeting, Kwon Oh-joon visited the Stainless Cold Rolled Steel Plant, the Electrical Steel Plant, and the Central Repair part of the Department of Facility Technologies. What`s more, Jang In-Hwan, director of the Steel Business Headquarters, visited the Hot Rolled Steel Plant, Wire Rod Plant and Thick Plate Plant, while the director of Management Infrastructure Headquarters visited the No.3 FINEX Plant, No.3 Shaft furnace and Refractory installations in Pohang to exchange New Year`s greetings and offer words of encouragement.

In Gwangyang, president Kim Jin il visited the Wire Rod Plant and the Cold Rolled Steel Plant, and vice-president Lee Young Hoon visited the Hot Rolled Steel Plant and the Steel Manufacturing Plant to encourage POSCO members.

Meanwhile, POSCO has translated the CEO`s New Year message into 7 different languages, including English, Chinese, Vietnamese and Turkish and has shared it with local staff working at overseas corporations.
