OREANDA-NEWS. January 22, 2015. McKesson announced that the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) has awarded it full Patient and Practitioner Oriented Accreditation for its VITAL Chronic Condition Management services.

Delivered by McKesson Care Management, the chronic condition and disease management services receiving accreditation from NCQA are asthma, congestive heart failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, coronary artery disease and diabetes.

McKesson has been delivering successful chronic condition and disease management services for more than 15 years. In 2002, McKesson was among the first organizations to seek and receive accreditation for its program through NCQA. "NCQA's Disease Management Accreditation program is thorough and rigorous. It's designed to highlight only those programs that truly improve chronic care," said NCQA President Margaret E. O'Kane.

Through a combination of personalized one-on-one nurse interaction, provider engagement and technology-driven tools, VITAL Chronic Condition Management services help people living with chronic disease learn to better manage their conditions, which can lead to better health and improved quality of life. NCQA accreditation demonstrates McKesson's vigorous and ongoing commitment to such high-quality programs, while also putting McKesson payer customers in a stronger position for achieving NCQA accreditation for their own disease management services.

"We are extremely proud to have earned reaccreditation for McKesson VITAL Chronic Condition Management services," said Naoise Colgan, vice president and general manager, McKesson Care Management. "NCQA recognition of our exceptional performance standards gives our payer customers confidence in selecting us, knowing that we will deliver the highest quality chronic condition and disease management services to their members."
