OREANDA-NEWS. January 21, 2015. China exported 8.51 million mt of metallurgical and semi-finished coke in 2014, 85% more than a year earlier, data released by the General Administration of Customs.

This was the highest annual export figure recorded since 2008, when volumes hit 12.17 million mt.

December exports increased 36% year on year to 1.02 million mt — the largest monthly export volume since September 2008.

The December figure was also 8.5% higher than November’s exports.
Japan and Malaysia were among the most active buyers of Chinese coke in December — with top importer India staying largely on the sidelines.

Other countries that imported at least 100,000 mt of Chinese material last year include Brazil, Vietnam, Iran, South Africa, Mexico, Ukraine and Netherlands, customs data showed.
