OREANDA-NEWS. January 20, 2015. During 2014, Moscow Railways shipped a total of 71.64 million tons of freight in absolute terms, which amounts to 196,300 tons daily and 100.1% of the target figure.

In 2014, loading of oil increased by 2.7% and of ferrous metals by 14.7%. The biggest increase was due to the loading of timber, which jumped 43.1%, and grain, which was up 36.5%.

2014 saw loading of metal products fall by 21.1%, with fertiliser also decreasing (-10.5%), along with construction materials (-41.0%) and cement (-12.4%).

In December 2014, Moscow Railways loaded 5,689,300 tons, which is equivalent to daily loading of 183,500 tons, 0.1% higher than the target. Loading volumes of chemicals increased by 5.9%, while timber was by 51.6% and corn by 43.4%.

Loading of ferrous metals was down by 15.1%, fertilisers by 15.4% and cement by 23.2%, according to the Corporate Communications Service at Moscow Railways.
