OREANDA-NEWS. January 20, 2015. According to the latest figures, the Russian Railways' infrastructure carried 1.068.3 billion passengers in 2014, a fall of 1% compared to 2013. It carried 102.8 million long-distance passengers, a decrease of 7.2% on 2013, and 965.5 million suburban commuters, a fall of 0.3%.

Passenger turnover on the Russian Railways' network in 2014 decreased by 7.1% compared to 2013 and amounted to 128.6 billion passenger-kilometres. Long-distance passenger turnover fell 9.2% to 96.1 billion, while suburban commuter passenger turnover decreased 0.6% to 32.5 billion.

In December 2014, according to the latest figures, the network carried 84.9 million passengers, which is 3.5% less than in December 2013, including 77.5 million suburban commuters, a fall of 2.6%, and 7.3 million long-distance passengers, a decline of 11.5%.

Passenger turnover in December 2014 amounted to 8.8 billion passenger-kilometres, 10.1% less than during December 2013.
