Estonian Game & Berries Take Center Stage in Grune Woche
OREANDA-NEWS. January 20, 2015. Estonian stand in one of the world's biggest food, agriculture and horticulture fairs, the international Grune Woche in Berlin, will this year focus on game and forest pickings.
The 120-square-meter exhibition of best Estonian food was put together by the Ministry of Agriculture, in cooperation with the Estonian Chamber of Agriculture and Commerce.
"All the best tastes and products from Estonia will be represented. We took into account the German consumers' tastes and expectation for natural and exotic food," said director of the Chamber of Agriculture and Commerce Roomet Sormus.
The display includes grilled elk meat sausages with Poltsamaa mustard and rye bread, elk burger in a rye pocket with smoked bacon, pickled cucumber and horseradish sauce, hunter's soup with milk-caps, smoked elk fillet, sprat sandwiches with quail eggs, Baltic herring with beer crust, cranberry cake, and so on.
The stand also presents specific Estonian products, like different cheese, kohuke (a local sweetened curd snack), wild garlic butter, fish, honey, jams, berry snacks, sweets, herbal teas, forest berry juices, dark and light beers, natural apple juice, Vana Tallinn and Kristallkummel liqueurs, Pohjaka buck-thorn schnapps, Moe vodka and many others.
Grune Woche will take place in Berlin till January 25.
