OREANDA-NEWS. ITOCHU Corporation (headquartered in Minato-ku, Tokyo; Masahiro Okafuji, President & CEO; hereinafter “ITOCHU”) announced today that it will co-sponsor the TMSO?ITOCHU Class Concert (Main sponsor: TMSO, Cooperation: SEA WAVE FM IWAKI) as the fifth phase of Support for Tohoku, ITOCHU Children’s Dreams Fund, with the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra (headquartered in Taito-ku, Tokyo; Chairman of the Board

: Seiichi Kondo; hereinafter “TMSO”).

- Overview -
TMSO, along with SEA WAVE FM IWAKI, holds an annual concert for elementary and junior high school students as a way to cheer up children who have been hit hard by the earthquake in the Iwaki City in Fukushima Prefecture.
ITOCHU’s desire this time around was to have elementary and junior high school students in the towns of Naraha and Hirono, which are located within 30 kilometers from the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant, who are still living in shelters and continuing their studies in Iwaki City, to receive firsthand experience in listening to genuine music. This led to hosting a string quartet concert in lecture format by TMSO.
This concert is based on the “Action on Global Humanitarian Issues” and “Growth of Future Generations” established in ITOCHU’s Basic Activity Guidelines on Social Contribution. ITOCHU will continue to extend its support toward reconstruction from the Great East Japan Earthquake through the Children’s Dreams Fund as well as various activities.
