OREANDA-NEWS. January 19, 2015. According to the latest figures, loading on the network of Russian Railways in 2014 amounted to 1.227 billion tons, 0.8% less than during the previous year.

The Russian Railways' networked shipped the following goods. The figure in brackets shows the percentage change compared to 2013:

coal – 315.4 million tons (+ 1.5%);

coke – 11.8 million tons (+ 3%);

oil and petroleum products – 256.5 million tons (+ 2.5%);

iron and manganese ores – 108.6 m tons (-1.9%);

ferrous metals – 71.8 million tons (+ 2.5%);

ferrous metal scrap – 16.7 million tons (unchanged);

chemical and mineral fertilisers – 49.2 million tons (+ 4.7%);

cement – 32.2 million tons (-6.3%);

timber – 38.7 million tons (+ 8.5%);

grain – 18.2 million tons (+ 32.3%);

construction materials – 141.1 million tons (-17.1%);

non-ferrous ores and sulphur feedstock – 19.3 million tons (-6.5%);

chemicals and soda – 25.3 million tons (-3.2%);

industrial feedstock and moulded materials – 35.5 million tons (+ 4.3%).

Freight turnover in 2014 amounted to 2,298.3 billion tariff ton-kilometres, an increase of 4.6% on 2013. Freight turnover including empty wagon runs was 2,954.2 billion ton-km, up 5%.

According to the latest figures, in December 2014 the Russian Railways' network loaded 103.1 million tons, 0.1% lower than the figure for December 2013.

Freight turnover in December 2014 decreased by 0.6% compared to December 2013 and amounted to 198.4 billion tariff ton-km. Freight turnover taking into account empty wagon runs during the same period decreased by 0.4% to 254.9 billion ton-km.
