Incheon Airport Expands Smart Entry System
OREANDA-NEWS. January 19, 2015. Incheon Airport doubled up the number of smart entry systems in cooperation with the Incheon Airport Immigration Center to provide passengers with more convenient immigration check services.
Incheon Airport now runs a total of 72 automated immigration clearance systems by putting 34 more units into operation including 24 at the immigration desks and 10 at the entry hall together with the 38 existing ones. This system expansion was implemented to increase the capacity to handle a possible surge in passengers and offer more convenient immigration inspection services to them.
The smart entry system launched in 2008 is designed to allow travelers faster immigration checks with personal information including passport number, fingerprints, and pictures registered in advance. The service is now used by one third of entire passengers of Incheon Airport with an annual increase of more than 20% to reach 26 million accumulated users.
