OREANDA-NEWS. Volga Engineering Plant (Togliatti), which is a subsidiary of AvtoVAZ, can cut up to 850 people in January.

"Currently, the company has the excessive number of employees - about 3 thousand people. According to the plan for the reduction, it can be 850 people", - the chairman of the official trade union of AvtoVAZ, Sergei Zaitsev, informed the agency "Interfax", adding that the relevant documents have been submitted to the employment service.

Mr.Zaytsev noted that the cuts can be avoided if AvtoVAZ and "Stankoprom" will create on the basis of plant the joint venture for the production of robotics. According to him, now it is discussing the possibility of a joint venture, but the result of the negotiations is unknown.

Recall that in November of 2014 AvtoVAZ bought at the State Corporation "Rostech" Volga Engineering Plant, which became again a 100 percent subsidiary of AvtoVAZ, which sold it for the debts to "Rostech" in 2011. VEP supplies for AvtoVAZ components for assembly of cars (harnesses, instrument panel cross etc.), also the production tooling, dies and technological equipment (machine tools, robotics). At the moment, "VEP" takes part in the development of the production of Lada Vesta, in particular, it prepared molds for interior parts. "VEP" has 26 positions of snap. In addition, "VEP" cooperates not only with AvtoVAZ, but with Nissan, which has placed the order for the manufacture of custom tooling for 200 million Rubles.

"Cooperation between AvtoVAZ and VEP is strategic. In the next three years we are launching five new products, they need molds, stamps and tools. To date AvtoVAZ posted at VEP orders worth about 1 billion Rubles," - said earlier the president of AvtoVAZ, Bo Andersson.
