OREANDA-NEWS. January 15, 2015. For its new Global Shared Services (GSS) organization, which already has operations in Essen, ThyssenKrupp has decided on a further location in the Ruhr area, in Bochum. Having examined various possible sites in Bochum in terms of transport links, central location and flexible open plan spaces, ThyssenKrupp has chosen the building at Wasserstrasse 223 in Bochum-Wiemelhausen.

The premises are currently being prepared, and the first services will be provided there from February 2015. Up to 250 jobs are to be created in Bochum. “This is a good signal for the Ruhr,” said Oliver Burkhard, Chief Human Resources Officer and Labor Director of ThyssenKrupp AG.
Global Shared Services (GSS) are processes that can be consolidated at one site and provided from there to various parts of the Group.

They include location-independent tasks from the areas of IT, real estate management, human resources and accounting. Under the corporate initiative ACT, numerous processes at ThyssenKrupp are being modernized to make them more efficient and competitive. Negotiations between ThyssenKrupp, employee representatives and the IG Metall union on a collective agreement for GSS were concluded in Essen on May 7, 2014. The collective agreement came into force on June 1, 2014. In addition to guaranteeing more than 580 jobs in Essen until 2022, it was also agreed that a further Ruhr location would be established in Bochum.
