OREANDA-NEWS. Tele2, an alternative mobile operator, has bought 60% shares of CJSC TSRS − a Tula mobile operator. Tele2 has closed the deal on acquiring 60% shares of CJSC “Tula Wireless Telephonic Communications”. The company was purchased by CJSC MS Direct (Tele2 subsidiary) that owned 40% of the operator’s charter capital. The deal has been authorized by all regulatory bodies. Financial terms of the acquisition are not being disclosed.

The company TSRS is a regional mobile operator that operates in IMT-MC-450 standard and has allocated frequencies in this range. Acquisition will let Tele2 get a regional license and begin construction of the 3G network in Tula. In December 2014 Tele2 launched its first 4G network at 1800 MHz frequencies – thereby the company has implemented a technology neutrality principle. Thanks to the 3G network rollout, the operator will provide smartphones users with high-speed wireless Internet at affordable prices.

Mikhail Noskov, CEO at Tele2: “The acquisition will give Tele2 an opportunity to launch the 3G network in Tula and the region. The 3G standard is the most widely used and demanded technology of high-speed Internet. That is why despite a launch of the 4G network in December last year, we will provide our Tula subscribers with wireless Internet based on the 3G technology.”
