Volume of Foreign Loans Received by Moldova Amounts to USD316,53 mn
OREANDA-NEWS. January 14, 2015. As it was informed in the NBM, it has reduced in comparison with the same period of the previous year (USD 612,32 million) by USD 295,79 million (1.9 times).
According to NBM, foreign loans received by Moldova in the third quarter of 2014 made up USD 103,71 million, decreasing by 8.3% compared with the previous quarter and decreasing by 2.9 times compared with the third quarter of 2013.
At the same time, about USD 85,37 million of the total amount disbursed in July-September 2014 loans accounted for the long-term loans, and USD 18,34 million short – term ones. External financing was mainly used by economic agents, which accounted for 53.3 percent of the total amount of the funds received.
The share of the state sector amounted to 34.4%, banks-12.3%, respectively. According to the NBM, the government of Moldova, including the local public administration, in the third quarter of 2014 received new loans in the amount of USD 35,67 million, including USD 19,17 million from the European Investment Bank, USD 5,72 million from the European Bank for reconstruction and development, USD 3.72 million from the International development Association, USD 5.2 million from Japan. At the same time, payments by the government on the previously obtained loans amounted in the third quarter of 2014 to about USD 19,38 million and were reimbursed in a timely manner.
The National Bank of Moldova during this period did not attract new foreign loans, redeeming USD 9,35 million loans from the IMF that were previously allocated. The banks attracted from abroad in July-September 2014 long-term loans in the amount of USD 12,79 million (previous year USD 109,96 million). The loans returned in the third quarter of 2014 amounted to USD 37,89 million (USD 74,85 million the year before). At the same time, economic agents from other sectors of the economy has attracted new loans in the third quarter of 2014 in the amount of USD 55,25 million (previous year USD 60,86 million), and reimbursed USD 113,38 million.
