OREANDA-NEWS. January 14, 2015. POSCO`s unique quality certification system PosQC (POSCO Supplier Quality Certification) is fast becoming the industry-standard model of new shared growth.

Mark Burgess, Signode Industrial Group President, has given his backing to the PosQC system as a good example of new shared growth by widening the scope of POSCO`s engagement with Signode Korea to the Signode Industrial Group`s 88 plants worldwide.

Signode Korea (CEO, Kim Joong Young), an outstanding supplier of POSCO, has implemented a quality system for training and addressed irrationalities through a workshop supported by POSCO for PosQC. In addition, the group is constructing a quality management system with a strong executive ability through meticulous evaluation of the overall in-house quality system and operation of a customer-focused quality management system.

POSCO is consolidating its market-leading quality competitiveness with the PosQC system implementation. It has prevented facility and quality-based accidents for 96 material suppliers over the last 3 years and it is now planning to expand and spread the system to 320 material suppliers through 2016.

POSCO is bolstering the range of support activities it provides to include information sharing from operating an outside learning club in order for material suppliers to improve their quality management capability. POSCO also arranges online and offline education opportunities related to quality management for the benefit of its material suppliers.

POSCO expects that the PosQC system will provide it with the necessary foundation to achieve unrivalled quality for greater customer and supplier satisfaction as part of its role a high-potential model for new shared growth at POSCO.

Signode Korea was founded in Pohang in 1999 for the purpose of manufacturing and selling steel bands for packaging. It is a Korean branch fully owned by the Signode Industrial Group, a global leader in the area of industrial packaging machine and materials.
