Kazakhstan to Increase Funding for Engineering Development
OREANDA-NEWS. January 12, 2015. Kazakh Ministry of Education and Science intends to increase funding for engineering development in our country. This has benn stated by Vice Minister of Kazakh Ministry of Education and Science Takhir Balykbayev at a briefing in the CCS.
According to him, science funding is distributed as follows in world practice: approximately 40% is accounted for fundamental and exploratory development and 60% - for engineering development.
"Unfortunately, our country has the other tendency, that is, about 84% is accounted for fundamental and exploratory development, and just 16% for engineering development. Now we set the task to increase funding for engineering development, for scientists to implement specific research results into practice together with business," T. Balykbayev said.
Publication activity of scientists has increased by 34% over the past three years in Kazakhstan.
"Last year we changed the staff of the national research councils. We took about half of all members of the national research councils from business and industry," T. Balykbayev said.
According to him, today it is very important to make science work on business need.
"Publication activity over the past three years has grown more than two times, 34% - last year. It means that there is scientific potential, and one of the major highlights is the introduction of scientific developments into production today," said T. Balykbayev.
