The upgraded Bubnovskaya compressor station was commissioned
OREANDA-NEWS. The upgraded Bubnovskaya compressor station (CS) was commissioned today in the Volgograd Region.
The upgrade of the Bubnovskaya CS is an important stage in rehabilitating the Petrovsk – Pisarevka section of the Urengoy – Novopskov gas trunkline. Upon completion, the required amount of natural gas will be securely supplied to the Southern Corridor (western route) gas network.
By now, nearly 200 kilometers of the line pipe section at Petrovsk – Pisarevka were overhauled, the Yekaterinovka CS was retrofitted, and a connection point, a gas branch and interconnectors were constructed at the Pisarevka CS, which will soon be commissioned.
During the upgrade of the Bubnovskaya CS, state-of-the-art gas compressor units, air cooling units, dust traps and other mostly domestically produced equipment were installed at compressor shop No. 2 (commissioned in 1983).
“The upgraded Bubnovskaya CS increases the reliability of Southern Corridor – a very essential and important project for central and southern parts of Russia as well as for gas injection into export pipelines of the Black Sea Region,” said Anatoly Paramonov, Deputy Head of Gazprom’s Central Production and Dispatch Department.
Background
The Bubnovskaya CS has the capacity of 140.1 MW. Upgraded compressor shop No.2 (96 MW) makes it possible to pump 31.9 billion cubic meters a year (before the upgrade – 30.8 billion cubic meters).
The construction of the Southern Corridor gas network is Gazprom’s large-scale project that will supply additional gas amounts to Russia’s central and southern regions in order to develop industrial, agricultural and utility sectors, intensify gasification and ensure gas supply into export pipelines of the Black Sea Region.
The total length of the Southern Corridor route is 2,506.2 kilometers. The project stipulates building 10 compressor stations with a total capacity of 1,516 MW. The annual throughput of the Southern Corridor gas pipeline system will be 63 billion cubic meters. The project is to be delivered before late 2017.
The Southern Corridor project covers eight Russian constituent entities and includes two sections, i.e. western and eastern routes.
The first phase stipulates the construction of the western route via the Voronezh and Rostov Regions and the Krasnodar Territory.
The second phase provides for the construction of the eastern route to be laid via the Nizhny Novgorod, Penza, Saratov, Volgograd Regions and the Republic of Mordovia and to be subsequently connected with the western route in the Krasnodar Territory.
