OREANDA-NEWS. December 29, 2014. CNPC and South Sudan's Ministry of Petroleum and Mining signed an MOU on EOR cooperation in Juba, Capital of South Sudan.

According to the MOU, CNPC will utilize its proven EOR technology to work with the operators of three blocks to increase crude production in South Sudan, and provide relevant training to the technicians from the Ministry of Petroleum and Mining.

South Sudan's Block 1/2/4 is currently in later development stage, while Block 3/7 and Block 5 mainly produce heavy oil. EOR and tailored heavy oil recovery technologies will play an important role in stabilizing and increasing crude output of these blocks.
