OREANDA-NEWS. GM-AvtoVAZ, in spite of the difficult economic situation, keeps its plans to begin the production in 2016 of car Chevrolet Niva of new generation, informed the press service of the joint venture, by responding to a question about the possible postponement of the start of production.

"As in every project during the implementation it is necessary to make some changes due to the peculiarities of the design, delivery schedules and equipment availability. It affects the original schedule - as well as the current economic situation, which deteriorated sharply in recent years. However, to date, plans to begin the production of new Chevrolet Niva in 2016 are saved", - said the press service of GM-AvtoVAZ.

Construction of a new plant GM-AvtoVAZ of production of Chevrolet Niva cars of new generation started in Togliatti in June of 2013, says the agency "Prime". The project presumes the creation of the special economic zone "Togliatti" of bodywork and press production and engineering laboratory and a logistics center. The stated capacity - is 120 thousand bodies. Investment is 209 million Dollars. Initially, the start of production was scheduled for December of 2015, and then it was postponed to 2016.
