Kazakhstan, Russia Agree on Reduction of Carrier Rockets
OREANDA-NEWS. December 26, 2014. The final version of the minutes of the session of Kazakhstan-Russia Intergovernmental Commission (IGC) on the complex "Baikonur" was signed in Moscow. The protocol was held in the city of Baikonur.
One of the important points of the document is devoted to the issue of environmental safety of rocket and space activities in Kazakhstan with the reduction of carrier rockets launching "Proton-M" from the Baikonur Cosmodrome.
The protocol was signed by First Kazakh Deputy Prime Minister Bakhytzhan Sagintayev and Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin, the protocol states that the parties have approved the recommendations on number of launches of carrier-rockets (CR) "Proton-M" from the Baikonur Cosmodrome from 2016 year in order to reduce the environmental impact on the environment of Kazakhstan. Recommendations have been prepared in cooperation with the working group.
It is noted that the planned number of launches is 15 for 2015.
Reduction of CR launches "Proton-M" will be implemented through a phased transfer of spacecraft launches fromthe Baikonur Cosmodrome to space missile weapon systems, which are created by the Russian Federation.
"Reduce launches of "Proton-M" two times in 2017, in 2020 – two times, make maximum 5 launces of CR "Proton-M " – in 2025 and almost finish them in 2026," the protocol of IGC on the complex Baikonur states.
