IMF Appreciates Ukrainian Commitment to Stabilize and Reform Economy
OREANDA-NEWS. On completion of the IMF European Department Mission's review under the Stand-By Arrangement that was held in Ukraine, the Mission Chief Nikolay Gueorguiev said that the mission held productive technical discussions with the new economic team of the Ukrainian government and with the National Bank of Ukraine in the context of the Fund-supported program, covering key issues facing the economy.
"We found that the Ukrainian authorities are preparing to move decisively on a broad and comprehensive agenda to stabilize and reform the economy, while coping with the difficult challenges that emerged in the last year", his statement reads. In this context, in Nikolay Gueorguiev's opinion, the parties advanced substantially their mutual understandings of policy priorities going forward. The statement also mentions that discussions will continue over the coming weeks, following the mission's departure. The mission is expected to return to Kyiv for policy discussions with the Ukrainian authorities in January 2015.
