OREANDA-NEWS. Lenta, (LSE, MOEX: LNTA) one of the largest retail chains in Russia, is pleased to announce the opening of its second hypermarket in Volgograd.

The new store is a Lenta standard format hypermarket located at 30 Kosmonavtov Street, Volgograd. The store has a total area of 12,000 sq.m, with 7,018 sq.m of selling space and is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. A broad product assortment of approximately 27,000 SKUs has been selected specifically for residents of Volgograd and includes Lenta's private label and federal product ranges alongside local produce. The store has 500 parking spaces and 41 cash registers. The property is owned by Lenta.

Lenta's Chief Executive Officer, Jan Dunning said:

"This new store is Lenta's second hypermarket in Volgograd and our third in the Volgograd area. Our first hypermarket in Volgograd opened in 2007, followed by a hypermarket in nearby Volzhsky which opened in 2010.

The South is an important and attractive region for Lenta. The opening of this new store increases our presence in the South Region to 13 hypermarkets. We will continue to expand our hypermarket network in the region with more new stores planned for 2015 and beyond."

This latest opening in Volgograd is Lenta's 27th hypermarket opening in 2014 and brings the total number of Lenta stores to 104 hypermarkets in 60 cities across Russia and 23 supermarkets in the Moscow region.
