OREANDA-NEWS. Vietnam is one of the major countries in the Greater Mekong Sub-region (GMS) among the member states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). Steel demand in Vietnam is expected to grow continuously in medium to long-term in the industries such as infrastructure and energy sectors for investment in social infrastructure with its long-term forecast of growth in economy.

For those backgrounds mentioned above, the Vietnam Representative Office is approved to be established in Ho Chi Minh City, as the representative office of NIPPON STEEL & SUMITOMO METAL (Thailand) Co., Ltd. as of January 1, 2015. The main purpose of the establishment of the office is to become a contact point for collecting information related to steel sales support and technology services support in Vietnam.
