OREANDA-NEWS. The power unit №3 of the Kalininskaya nuclear power plant was connected to the grid after the planned overhaul on December 17, 2014 at 12 h 21 min. It was done in 53 days, 2 days less than it had been planned. The Kalininskaya NPP experience shows, that better repair management, the precise organization of work, the use of new equipment and tools, solution of some problems in the preparatory phase of the repair, additional staff - all this allows contractors to reduce terms of repairs of power units without reducing the volume and quality.

An overhaul repair of the reactor plant and turbine generator, maintenance of the unit transformer, turbine repair with the opening of the high pressure cylinder, low pressure cylinders and others was done during the repair campaign on the power block №3. The modernization of the main connector seals of the main circulation pump, of he outer casing of low pressure cylinder, of capacitors of turbo-nutritious pump, regulation and protection systems of turbine generator, covers of drive control and protection system was done.

The repair of power unit №3 completed the repair campaign of the Kalininskaya NPP in this year.

There are four power units in work at the Kalininskaya NPP at the moment. The radiation background in the area of nuclear power plant and adjacent territory corresponds to the normal operation of power units and does not exceed natural background values.

Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) at nuclear power plants is carried out to ensure safe operation and reliability of equipment and systems in accordance with the annual work plan of nuclear power plant, in strict accordance with the guidelines, regulations, rules, nuclear, technical and radiation safety, occupational safety and fire safety. PPM are combined with annual power unit stops for loading of nuclear fuel into reactors.

The Kalininskaya nuclear power plant is a branch of the JSC "Concern Rosenergoatom". The station is located in the north of the Tver region in the Udomelskiy area. There are four power units with water-cooled power reactors (VVER-1000) with installed capacity of 1000 MW each in the structure of the Kalininskaya nuclear power station.
