OREANDA-NEWS. Lithuania will introduce the euro on 1 January 2015. In order to accelerate the repatriation of Lithuanian litas, euro area central banks will exchange litas banknotes in January and February 2015.

With the entry of Lithuania, the euro area will now comprise 19 countries.

By agreement with the Bank of Finland, the Finnish branches of Forex Bank will exchange litas banknotes for euro, free of charge, from 1 January to 28 February 2015. The maximum amount that can be exchanged during one day will be EUR 1,000, and only banknotes will be accepted. An identity card must be presented at the point of exchange.

The banknotes will be exchanged at the fixed conversion rate of 3.45280 Lithuanian litas per euro.
