OREANDA-NEWS. December 22, 2014. In the beginning of December, SEB will include SEB’s Visa cards in the SEB 3D Secure programme. Due to this, all credit and debit cards issued by SEB are integrated in the programme.

The application of the 3D Secure programme means only one additional step when a client identifies themselves during online shopping. After the bankcard data is entered, a web store that has joined the program will display an additional window; the client will be asked to log on their SEB Internet Bank account for authentication in order to confirm the payment. If authentication is successful, the shopping process is going to continue as usual.

The 3D Secure programme reduces the possibility of debit and credit card fraud. In the future, criminals will need more than just the bankcard data. In order to use a card online, the Internet Bank passwords of a person are also necessary.

A card can be used for paying in a web store if the debit or credit card agreement authorises transactions 'Internet' and 'Purchases'. Clients can check and change the valid rights of their cards in the Internet Bank under the menu point 'Transactions' -> 'Cards'.

A web store that has joined the security system displays a logo (logos) stating "Verified by Visa" and/or "MasterCard SecureCode". Currently, all Estonian online stores have joined the system. If a shop has not joined the 3D Secure programme, the client is not asked for authentication when shopping in an online store.
