Inter RAO Launches Eighth Power Generation Unit at Cherepetskaya TPP
OREANDA-NEWS. Inter RAO Group launched a new coal-fired power generation unit at Cherepetskaya TPP in Tula Oblast. The construction of 225 MW Power Generation Unit 8 was a part of the investment program of the Group. The new unit is on the government-approved list of power generation facilities to operate under Capacity Delivery Agreements.
The eighth power generation unit of Cherepetskaya TPP will improve the reliability of power supply to consumers in Tula, Moscow, Kaluga, Oryol, Smolensk and Bryansk regions and nearby areas. The new unit also gives Cherepetskaya TPP an opportunity to retire its legacy equipment eventually in order to improve its competitive edge on the electric power and capacity market.
LLC Inter RAO - Engineering, a subsidiary of Inter RAO Group, was in charge of the construction project for the eighth power generation unit at Cherepetskaya TPP.
Core equipment of the new unit, including Power Machines turbine and generator, and EMAlliance boiler unit, is made in Russia. The eighth power generation unit also uses imported equipment such as Alstom power filters.
The new unit has the lowest possible environmental footprint with the latest emission reduction, reduced water consumption and noise reduction systems.

The primary objective of this program is to improve the reliability of power supply to our consumers. The addition of the new unit gives us an opportunity to retire inefficient legacy equipment and migrate to environmentally friendly and efficient power generation," said Chief Executive of Inter RAO Group Boris KOVALCHUK.
