SK Planet and Qihoo 360 Sign MoU for Mobile Game Business
OREANDA-NEWS. SK planet announced that its T Store (http://www.tstore.co.kr) signed Korean app market's first MOU to promote mobile game business with Qihoo 360 (CEO Zhou Hongyi, http://www.360.cn), which is operating as China's No. 1 android app market.
Through this MOU, the two companies are planning to actively cooperate to construct mobile game ecosystems that connect both countries under the basis of know-how and business capabilities of both companies accumulated through operation of android app markets in Korea and China. They will provide full support to release mobile games in the China and the Korea market through mobile game development, its localization, and marketing.
The China mobile game market is rapidly growing now. According to the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television (SARFT), the size of China mobile game market in the first half of 2014 increased to CNY 12.52 billion (KRW 2.2 trillion), up by 395% compared with the previous year and the number of Chinese mobile game users reaches 300 million.
In spite of China market's potential, Korean games are very slow in sales in the China game market. Because of the different profit sharing mode, stringent entry barrier, and complicated game distribution system through 20 local android app markets (not from Google Play Store), it is unquestionably hard for Korean companies to make an entrЁ¦e into the China game market in their own way.
Starting from the first half of 2015, SK planet is planning to discover outstanding games of Korean small/medium game developers as well as games released in T Store in order to mediate them to be released in 360. At the same time, 360 will take charge of publishing and local marketing of games released through SK planet in order to support Korean games' stable business in the China market.
