OREANDA-NEWS. The agreement between the Government of Karelia, Siberian-Urals Aluminium Company (SUAL) and ELSO Baza was signed within the Fourth session of the State Commission for preparation for the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Karelia on December, 17.

Valentin Chmil, Minister of Economic Development of the Republic of Karelia, Nikolai Grachev, Director General of Nadvoitsy Aluminium Smelter, and Alexander Lyuban, Director of ELSO Baza have subscribed their names to the agreement.

The agreement is devoted to cooperation in implementation of the project of heating aluminum radiators manufacturing site organization at Nadvoitsy Aluminium Smelter.

As Valentin Chmil has observed, the project is especially important in the context of sanctions applied against Russia and may become an example of successful import substitution for the building industry of Karelia.

- For the republic it also means preservation of workable condition of Nadvoitsy Aluminium Smelter, utilization of its capacities, creation of new jobs. We're interested to keep the enterprise operational and developing, to have new jobs for the people living in Nadvoitsy, - the minister has told.

On his words, the next step will be design engineering and then construction of the new production unit.

- This is the first new project with participation of SUAL holding, and we hope that another project of building a foil-rolling unit at the enterprise will be launched. The Government of Karelia will both render its assistance, and will do its best to implement the project within the shortest possible period of time, - Valentin Chmil has added.
