OREANDA-NEWS. December 19, 2014. The longest regular direct route from Tallinn, the Portuguese airline TAP five-hour flight to Lisbon, will be closed as the traffic was one way, and interest from Portugal and Brazil to visit Estonia failed to materialize.

The 3,314 kilometer, three-times per week, connection saw its maiden flight only in July. It will be shut down on January 15.

Tallinn Airport board member Erki Sakkov told Postimees they are sad to lose the connection, but the Estonian market is very small, adding that the flight was popular among Estonians in the summer and early fall.

TAP connected Tallinn to many South American and African cities, and will leave Tallinn with 12 airlines; Estonian Air, Aeroflot, AirBaltic, Air Lithuanica, AVIES, easyJet, Finnair/Flybe, LOT, Lufthansa, Norwegian, Ryanair and Turkish Airlines.
