Tele2 launches its first 4G network
OREANDA-NEWS. Tele2, an alternative mobile operator, has commercially launched the 4G network. Tula Region is the first of Tele2-penetrated territories to have launched the 4G network at the 1800 MHz frequencies. Therebythecompanyhasimplementedatechnologyneutralityprinciple.
Tele2 has rolled out the 4G network in Tula using its own 2G infrastructure. That makes the main difference from earlier launches of 3G networks in St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Chelyabinsk, which were based at Tele2 and Rostelecom integrated networks.
Tele2 provides a 4G stable coverage in Tula, certain villages in Leninskiy District, Shchekino, Novomoskovsk, Uzlovaya, Donskoy, Severo-Zadonsk, Sokolniki and Aleksin.
Tele2 is offering two tariff options for the high-speed wireless Internet:
“4G Internet on the phone” – 1 GB of traffic per 15 rubles a day. After the limit is reached, subscriber may use Internet at the speed restricted down to 128 kbit per second. A fee is charged once a day.
“Speed it up” – 500 MB of traffic per 8 rubles till the end of the day. The option may be used once a day. After the limit is reached, subscriber may use Internet at the speed restricted down do 128 kbit per second.
Over 2015, 3G/4G services under Tele2 brand will be available in over 50 regions. By the end of 2016 majority of subscriber will have an opportunity to use high-speed wireless Internet on 3G/4G networks.
Aleksandr Provotorov, First Deputy CEO at Tele2:
“We are very glad to launch the first 4G at the basis of technology neutrality principle that Tele2 was striving for over a long time. Tele2 efforts largely contributed to the fact that on December 2013 the State Commission for Radio Frequencies authorized the use of GSM for LTE network construction. We are sure that technology neutrality is one of the main economically cost-efficient ways to roll out 4G networks. All-Russian penetration of LTE gadgets on the network is not extensive – around 5%. That is why we will first build up LTE networks in large cities with high demand for the service. In 2015, Tele2 is planning to launch over 30 networks in total under the 4G brand.”
