Belaruskali Plans to Export around 9 Million Tonnes Potash in 2014
OREANDA-NEWS. The state-owned Belarusian company OAO Belaruskali plans to export around 9 million tonne of potash fertilizers in 2014, a company representative told.
In early 2014 the government challenged Belaruskali to export 7.5 million tonnes of potash fertilizers, however the situation on the potash market improved, which made it possible for the Belarusian manufacturer to raise the target to 9 million tonnes.
By tradition, Belaruskali exports to the domestic market around 1.3-1.4 million tonnes of potash.
As previously reported, in Jan-Sep 2014 Belaruskali exported 4.308 million tonnes of potash fertilizers (in terms of 100% potassium chloride) worth USD 2.052 billion (Jan-Sep 2103 - 2.686 million tonnes worth USD 1.683 billion).
The average price of Belarusian potash fertilizers sold on overseas markets in Jan-Sep 2014 stood at USD 466.5 per tonne to compare with USD 625.5 per tonne in Jan-Sep 2013.
As previously reported, Belaruskali exported around 3.437 million tonnes of potash fertilizer (in terms of 100% potassium chloride) in 2013 (3.668 million in 2012).
Belaruskali's export proceeds stood at USD 2.063 billion in 2013, USD 2.651 billion in 2012.
The state-owned Belarusian company OAO Belaruskali is one of the world's largest manufacturers of potash fertilizers, employing about 18,440 personnel. It operates the Starobinskoye potash salts deposit and comprises four mine groups, auxiliary shops and support units.
Belaruskali controls more than 16% of the world's potash fertilizer market.
Belaruskali exports are facilitated by OAO Belarus Potash Company.
