OREANDA-NEWS. The Minister of State in the ministries of Overseas Indian Affairs & External Affairs General (Retd.) V. K. Singh said in Lok Sabha today that the Emigration Act, 1983 and the Rules framed thereunder provide for the control and regulation of recruiting agents. The Act stipulates mandatory registration of all Recruiting Agents with the Protector General of Emigrants, Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs before they can conduct the business under Section 10 of the Act. The Act/Rules also specifies procedure for emigration clearances along with the prescribed employment documents.

If any registered recruiting agent violates any provision of the Act, actions against such agents are taken as per theEmigration Act, 1983 and the Rules framed thereunder and relevant law of the land. If a Complaint is received against unregistered agent, the same is referred to the concerned State Government for investigation and appropriate action under section 10 and 24 of the Emigration Act 1983 and other relevant laws of the land.

General (Retd.) Dr. V. K. Singh informed that there is no licence/permit issued to the recruiting agents by the Ministry specifically for the recruitment of nurses and paramedical staff.One licence, issued to M/s Pan Asian Tours & Travels, Chaganacherry, Kerala, based on a complaint from Embassy of India, Kuwait in February, 2014, has been cancelled.
