OREANDA-NEWS. The Minister of State in the ministries of Overseas Indian Affairs & External Affairs General (Retd.) V. K. Singh said in reply to a question in Lok Sabha today thatas per data compiled in May, 2012, there are nearly 22 million overseas Indians of which over 10 million are NRIs and rest are persons of Indian origin (PIOs).

A separate law to deal with disputes of NRIs neither exists nor is contemplated as their disputes can be resolved under the existing laws of the land.
