OREANDA-NEWS. Augmentation of freight stock on Indian Railways is a continuous process. The Railways assess the requirement of wagons and places demand for new wagons every year. In the year 2014-15, Indian Railways is contemplating acquisition of approximately 13,162 wagons.

Average number of freight trains run daily on Indian Railways during 2012-13 (latest available) is 7,421.
