Shri Bandaru Dattatreya said “Labour is one of the most critical factors of production. To ensure industrial peace and harmony, it is imperative that the issue of labour are well integrated into the overall growth and industrial development policy. Ministry of Labour & Employment is taking a series of initiatives for enhancing the Ease of Doing Business, Productivity and Employability while ensuring labour welfare. In a landmark good governance initiative, Shram Suvidha Portal has been launched to promote ease of compliance for labour legislation. Universal Account Number (UAN) has been allotted to more than 4.2 crore workers of organized sector workers for the portability of provident fund benefits. We are working very closely with DIPP and its eBiz platform so that the vision of the Prime Minister for ‘Make in India’ is realized. In this series of initiatives, the web services for the Employer’s Registration is being launched on e-Biz platform today. The Shram Suvidha Portal already deals with 16 Acts on a single portal across 4 organizations viz. Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), Office of the Chief Labour Commissioner (Central), Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) and Directorate General of Mines Safety (DGMS). A common registration form across 5 Acts for ESIC, EPFO, Central Labour Act and Building & Other Construction Workers Act is also being developed which will be available on the Shram Suvidha Portal. This will be in addition to common Labour Identification Number (LIN) which has since been allotted to more than 7 lakh enterprises and the common simplified annual return across these 16 Acts”.
With this integration of web services of ESIC and eBiz platform, an important milestone in the electronic service delivery mechanism between the entrepreneurs and the Government Departments will be achieved. By the end of this month, the EPFO service is also expected to be launched in the public domain. The web services for payment gateways of four (04) other banks i.e. Bank of Baroda, Bank of India, Canara Bank and Punjab National Bank, were also integrated at today’s function.
The Ministry of Labour & Employment had earlier decided to integrate the web services for ‘Employer’s Registration’ of the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation and the Employees’ Provident Fund Organization with the eBiz Single Window Portal implemented by the Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion (DIPP), Ministry of Commerce & Industry.
The eBiz is India’s convenient and efficient online Government-to-Business (G2B) services. The vision of eBiz is to transform the business environment in the country by providing transparent and integrated electronic services to investors, industries and business throughout the business life cycle. The project aims to create a business and investor friendly eco system in India by making all business and investment related regulatory service across Central, State and local governments available on a single portal. From this single website, entrepreneurs will be able to apply and manage various registrations, licenses and clearance etc., thereby obviating the need for investor or a business to visit multiple offices or a plethora of websites.
