OREANDA-NEWS.The 2014 Science and Technology Prize awarding ceremony took place today during Gazprom's Management Committee meeting. It was pointed out at the ceremony that the 2014 Prize awarded and subsequently brought to life research projects had yielded an economic benefit of RUB 17 billion to Gazprom.

The author teams of the following research projects were awarded the 2014 Science and Technology Prize:

  • “Design and introduction of innovative system to assess durability of ring welds at Gazprom's gas mains”. The paper was submitted by Gazprom VNIIGAZ.
  • “Design and introduction of efficient and power-saving technology for small LNG and process equipment for its sales.” The paper was submitted by Gazprom Transgaz Yekaterinburg.
  • “Design and introduction of domestically produced (import substitute) threaded pipes of improved performances at Gazprom's gas and gas & condensate wells”. The paper was submitted by  Gazprom Dobycha Nadym.
  • “Design and introduction of technology to detect and repair pipeline sections under lateral stress corrosion cracking.” The paper was submitted by Gazprom Transgaz Ufa.
  • “Design and introduction of comprehensive technology to inspect and rehabilitate integrity of factory-made pipe protection coating, fasteners and shut-down valves of gas pipelines.” The paper was submitted by Gazprom Transgaz Ukhta.
  • “Design and introduction of power-saving system for heaters automatic control at well site; optimization of temperature modes at Astrakhan production facilities.” The paper was submitted by Gazprom Dobycha Astrakhan.
  • “Methodology of harmonization of taxes in gas industry.” The paper was submitted by NIIgazeconomika.
  • “Design and introduction of smart automatic process control system to prevent hydrate formation inside gas gathering circuits of Kharvutinskaya area at Yamburg oil, gas & condensate field.” The paper was submitted by Gazprom Dobycha Yamburg.

Set up in 1998, the Science and Technology Prize has been an integral element of Gazprom's corporate sci-tech policy aimed at enhancing the application of innovations in the Company's business and supporting its position as a technological leader across the global energy industry.

In 2014 Gazprom's subsidiaries nominated 21 papers to participate in the event. The total number of authors reached 177 persons.

The papers were assessed by a group of experts from Gazprom and its subsidiaries. The experts focused their attention on the relevance, novelty, sci-tech level (research intensity) of papers, their scale and economic efficiency for Gazprom, the commercialization opportunities and protectability, the share of domestic materials, technologies and equipment in use.
