OREANDA-NEWS. December 12, 2014. Minister of Investment and Development Asset Issekeshev told about the plans of the second five-year plan at a meeting on the development of an innovation cluster, held with the participation of President Nursultan Nazarbayev in Almaty.

"If there were only a few dozen projects in 2009-2010, now there are more than five hundred projects supported only in the line of the Ministry of Investment and Development and the National Agency of Technological Development. A large number of projects is supported in the line of Ministry of Education and Science and Nazarbayev University.

Thus, we gradually create a "new growth" of innovation economy. Therefore, we plan to intensify efforts in the second five-year plan. Our goal - to achieve the increase of innovative activity to 20%, the share of innovative products in GDP to 2.5%," Minister said.

He stressed that the focus will be on the manufacturing industry in the second five-year plan. There are two priorities in innovation policy. The first - reducing the technological gap in traditional industries (metallurgy, geology, agriculture and others). The second – providing a basis for development of new sectors of knowledge economy, such as robotics, automation, engineering, multimedia technology, etc.

"For example, the National Center of complex processing of mineral raw materials is working with mining companies for processing technogenic deposits. Companies "KazMunayGas", "MangystauMunaiGas" are working on the direction of technological development to improve oil recovery. The same work is being carried out for the rest," A. Issekeshev said.
