Rostov NPP: Power Unit №1 Plugged In
OREANDA-NEWS. The power unit №1 of the Rostov NPP was included into the network on December 3 at 3:30 and launched at the nominal power at 09:00.
Recall, that the power unit №1 of the Rostov NPP was disconnected from the network by an electrical protection equipment of block transformer on November 29 at 10:53. Thermal power of the unit №1 was reduced to 10%.
There are violations of limits and conditions of safe operation of the equipment.
This event is evaluated as "out of scale" on the international seven-point rating scale of nuclear events INES, so it is not essential for safety.
The power unit №2 of the Rostov NPP has been operating normally all this time.
The radiation background at the plant and the surrounding area is unchanged and is at the level, which corresponds to the normal operation of power and do not exceed the natural background values.
The Rostovskaya nuclear power plant is a branch of the JSC "Concern Rosenergoatom". The nuclear station is located on the bank of the Tsimlyansk Reservoir in 13,5 km from Volgodonsk. There are two power units with VVER-1000 reactors with an installed capacity of 1000 MWt operating at the nuclear station. The power unit No. 1 was put into commercial operation in 2001, the power unit No. 2 - in December, 2010.
