OREANDA-NEWS. December 09, 2014. A social technologies forum spearheaded by Norilsk Nickel titled "Partnership. Innovations. Development." has been held at V.V. Mayakovsky Theater in Norilsk. The large-scale event highlighted that Norilsk Nickel considers social responsibility an integral part of its business processes.

"In the last two years we've been focusing on efficiency in production as well as in social areas - said Larisa Zelkova, Deputy CEO - Head of Social Policy and Public Relations Unit, MMC Norilsk Nickel. - We do not measure efficiency in terms of business categories: how much money was contributed by us and to which organizations is not the only main focus, we must also consider the follow-through: how the money was spent, the resulting benefit to society and the ultimate fate of various projects. We must consider the future today: what kind of lives our children and grandchildren will lead; will they claim our place and wish to work at the company and stay in Norilsk in general? We must be asking those questions to think of our prospects."

The forum comprised over 15 event formats: roundtables, workshops, talk-shows, presentations, science fairs, social project planning, business cases, charity fair. Participants in the conversation included members of business circles, representatives of government, members of the public and experts at national and regional foundations and organizations and discussed the region's potential, presented the Norilsk experience, social practices as well as charitable and other beneficial initiatives.

The inaugural Norilsk "Partnership. Innovations. Development." forum drew a large number of attendees, a total of 1,500 persons based on the host data.

"We hope the forum becomes a highlight of public life and will give a boost to social partnership in the regions where Norilsk Nickel's operations are based," said Svetlana Ivchenko, Social Policy Department Director, MMC Norilsk Nickel at the closing ceremony of the forum.
