OREANDA-NEWS. December 09, 2014. The solemn award ceremony for the best achievements in the energy saving sphere was held in Bishkek under the aegis of the European bank for reconstruction and development (EBRD) and the European Union (EU).

Kyrgyz Sustainable Energy Financing Facility (KyrSEFF) provides loans and grants to increase energy efficiency of residential and industrial buildings. Such projects have been successfully implemented in Europe and the countries of CIS within the Sustainable energy financing facility (SEFF) of the European bank for reconstruction and development (EBRD). SEFF include the credit line for disbursement of commercial loans to the borrowers. So far, EBRD within SEFF has financed the projects for about EUR 960 million in cooperation with over 68 local partner financial institutions in 16 countries.

The award ceremony was devoted to the most successful projects showing the best results in the area of energy efficiency and contribution to environmental protection.

KICB was awarded with the first place in the nomination “Best partner bank”.

2 KICB branches: “Manas” branch and “Karakol” branch were awarded for the high performance in the area of sustainable energy financing.

The employees of KICB: Aziz Umurzakov, Indira Dolbaeva, Zhamilya Karymshakova, Zhibek Zakirova, Zharkynai Tashpolotova and Mukhtar Igemberdiev were awarded in the nomination “For the best performance in sustainable energy financing”.

Zhumadiyar Mamytov, KICB customer, was awarded for successful implementation of energy-saving activities in the nomination “Best project in housing construction”.

Due to bilateral cooperation of KyrSEFF with the partner financial institutions, including KICB, the projects designated to sustainable development of the country have been successfully implemented in the republic.

Uniqueness of the project is the motivation bonus system: each loan is supported by the grants from 10 to 35% of total loan amount.

Thus, KICB’s customers can obtain a loan “Warm house” and “Warm house+” and receive compensation up to 20% of the loan amount as a grant from KyrSEFF.

"Improving energy efficiency of the companies in Kyrgyzstan, EBRD and its partners – financial institutions help not only to reduce CO2 emissions but to make economy more competitive. Today the country depends on import of energy resources, which are influenced by many external factors, and reduction of energy consumption strengthens energy security", – emphasized Larisa Manastyrli, the head of EBRD representation office in Bishkek.
