Kazakhtelecom Presents Project on Installing Internet in Villages
OREANDA-NEWS. December 09, 2014. Kazakhtelecom within joint meeting of the Board on economic policy at NurOtan has presented a project on covering rural areas of RK with population over 250 people with fiber-optic communication lines to Majilis delegates.
At present time Kazakhtelecom JSC jointly with the Ministry on investments and development works out the project on construction of infrastructure of broadband access to rural settlements, purpose of which is increase of penetration level of modern communication services on base of broadband access including IP VPN and IP TV.
By words of Kuanyshbek Yessekeyev, Chairman of the Board of Kazakhtelecom JSC, realization of the project is vitally important both economically and socially. "It is planed that thanks to infrastructure construction of new generation communication by high speed internet connection will be provided schools, hospitals, post offices, various state organizations and budget institutions", - underlined Kuanyshbek Yessekeyev.
Due to information of Yessekeyev, access speed, which will be obtained by internet users, within the project, will compose not less 10 Mbit/s. Construction of infrastructure is planed to be performed in two stages: first– 2015-2018, second 2019-2021. at first stage all regional centers and rural settlements and other settlements at not long distance from regional centers (to 30-40 km) will be connected. Realization of second stage assumes increase of FOCL penetration to rural settlements at large distance from regional centers (to 80-100 km). "These parameters will allow removing digital inequality between city and village in part of telecommunication and state services", - noted K.Yessekeyev.
Let’s note that from 2004 to 2010 Kazakhtelecom JSC installed telephones and internet in rural areas within realization of state Program of development of rural territories of RK, installing telephones of all areas where telephones with population over 200 people have not been assumed. Completing to the beginning of 2009 telephonization of all rural settlements with population over 50 people, Kazakhtelecom also covered all perspective and secured with electricity of rural settlements, where resides lesser 50 people.
Today Kazakhtelecom JSC realizes the project Upgrade and development of rural communication CDMA/EVDO", within which on territory of all oblast of the republic WLL CDMA network that allows increasing telephone density in village to 14,53 telephone lines per 100 residents. Due to data as of 1 November 2014 717 basic stations have installed, that secure actual coverage of about 6 100 rural settlements with telecommunication services where over 3 600 rural settlements have broadband internet access by EVDO technology. Till the end of 2014 existing CDMA-450 network to 790 basic stations of mounted capacity of 525 000 subscribers is planned.
As of 01.11.2014, 6 744 rural settlements are by the republic. All perspective and secured rural settlements are provided with telephones (rural subscribers– 1 122 428). Level of digitization in village composes 98,93%. 98% rural settlements are provided with Internet, where 66% have broadband access. 87% rural settlements are provided with wireless access by CDMA technology, where EVDO services– 54%. Remaining 13% rural settlements are provided with telephonization through land communication means, and satellite systems.
