OREANDA-NEWS. December 05, 2014. The 17th session of the Intergovernmental Commission on Cooperation between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation has been held in Astana.

First Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Bakytzhan Sagintayev heads the Intergovernmental Commission from the Kazakh side, First Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov – from the Russian side.

During the meeting a wide range of bilateral issues were discussed, including in the energy sector, industry, nuclear energy, transport, agriculture and migration.

The Commission also reviewed the progress of negotiations on Kazakhstan's accession to the WTO and current issues on the Eurasian integration.

The parties noted significant potential for enhancing mutually beneficial partnership also in the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union.

Following the discussion, the Protocol of the 17th session of the Kazakh-Russian Intergovernmental Commission was signed.
