OREANDA-NEWS. December 05, 2014. Turkmen-Kazakh business forum has been held in the business center "Mizan", organized by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan and the National Agency of Export and Investment "Kazneks Invest" (Republic of Kazakhstan).

A large delegation consisting of government representatives of Kazakhstan, branch offices, companies, small and medium businesses arrived to participate in the forum in Ashgabat. There were such companies as "Topan", "Ferrum Vtor", Aktobe Rail and Section Works LLP, JSC "South-Kazakhstan Machine-Building Plant", ALZ LLP, Almaty Electromechanical Plant, "Arcellor Mittal Tubular Aktau", "Henkel" and others.

The meeting was attended by representatives of ministries, State Concern "Turkmenhimiya", State Committee of Tourism and Sport, State Bank of Foreign Economic Affairs of Turkmenistan, National Union of food industry, national service "Turkmenistan Airlines", State Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange, and members of the Industrialists and Entrepreneurs Union of Turkmenistan from the Turkmen side.

The forum participants emphasized that Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan, located at the intersection of contemporary transnational routes, seek to realize opportunities for enhancing trade and economic ties. This positive partnership is contributed by the work of Intergovernmental Turkmen-Kazakh Commission of Economic, Scientific, Technological and Cultural Cooperation, joint business forums, as evidenced by the increasing volume of mutual trade.

According to Kazakh Vice Minister of National Economy Timur Zhaksylykov, both countries havea rich resource potential and investment opportunities to deepen and broaden traditional economic cooperation. The upcoming commissioning of the steel trunk Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran will give a powerful impulse to the economic development of the region, its social and industrial infrastructure, attract major foreign investments, ensure the growth of trade between the countries.

There are more than three dozen companies with Kazakh capital in Turkmenistan. The parties will continue to expand cooperation in many areas, particularly in energy sector, transport and communications, engineering, construction materials, chemical and textile industries.

The discussion centered on the issues of cooperation in agriculture, including grain production, seed production, the production of flour and bread, mikrobiofertilizer. There was also interest in development of business relations in the pharmaceutical field.
