OREANDA-NEWS. December 05, 2014. Representatives of companies producing bio-fuel and companies producing and assembling biomass boilers are taking over Polish practice in bio-energy development. A group of 12 business people from the bio-energy field pay a study visit to Poland.

The study visit is organised by the Energy and Biomass project, financed by the European Union and co-financed, implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), according to a press release by UNDP.

The Moldovan business people will visit enterprises producing pellets and briquettes, and factories manufacturing biomass boilers for the domestic and foreign market. They will exchange experience, meet business people from the bio-energy sector, as well as national authorities in charge of the field of renewable energy and energy efficiency from Poland.

"Poland is a great example, because it is very close to our country in terms of equipment structure, variety or structure of raw materials, such as straw, agricultural waste and wood, that is lesser used. We did not include just producers in the group, but also suppliers of boilers, given that ever so often communication lacks between the two sides, which ultimately affects the consumer", says UNDP Moldova Business Development Expert Nicolae Zaharia.

The mission’s goal is to gain experience from countries developed in the bio-energy sector and create bilateral partnerships with European states. This is the third study visit organised by the Energy and Biomass Project for private sector representatives. The first two were organised in the Czech Republic, Poland and Romania in 2013.

The Energy and Biomass Project in Moldova is a 4-year project, implemented in 2011-2014. The total budget of the project is 14.56 million euros, provided by the European Union (14 million euros) and UNDP Moldova (560,000 euros).
